Maize for Families

A food donation for 200 students and the team of teachers was generously financed by some donors. It took several attempts to be able to find enough food to be able to spend the €1,000. Mealy meal, the white maize meal, was hard to get because it has become scarce as a cheap staple food. But after searching diligently in different places and shops, headteacher Alington Matsilele managed to give each of the 200 students and their families a bag of maize meal.
In the meantime it has started to rain! In the true sense of the words: thank God! Immediately new seed was sown. In about 3-4 months, the maize will be able to be harvested. Let’s hope it rains sufficiently for the seed to produce good shoots.
